The Journey of Moto Explore Indonesia unknowingly began over 25 years ago. Searching for surf spots away from overcrowded surf beaches at Kuta allowed the rich tapestry of not only the Indonesian islands, but the people met along the journey to be discovered. In the years that followed, surf trips morphed into family holidays with any opportunity taken to explore a little more of Bali and then to the greater Indonesian archipelago.
Disappearing on multi trip solo adventure rides into the tracks, villages and jungles to absorb the culture far removed from that of western corporate civilization, was the medicine sought by the founder. Advertised day trail bike or touring rides and tours were taken, but with previous involvement in both the participation and organisation of expeditions and motorcycle events, nothing came close to what was envisioned. The opportunity arose in early 2015 to act on the adage "if you want to do something right, do it yourself" so consequently Moto Explore Indonesia began. And with it, the chance to share the incredible experience of travelling on Adventure bikes throughout Indonesia.
PT. Moto Explore Indonesia is PMA Company founded on the premise of providing a structured business, modelled on Australian company management, quality, safety, mechanical reliability and customer service in all aspects of the business and to provide the Clients with an unforgettable, safe and unique experience.
During the start-up of the company, an applicant posed the question: "Is your primary focus to make money or is it the enjoyment from taking people out to ride motorbikes? Im not interested if it’s only to make money". That person is now a Director. He embodied the attributes needed to ensure that the Clients (our riders) are the focus, and he has the skills to make the ride unforgettable for the Client. The end goal with this approach is the success of the company.
A company is only as good as its people and it was a windfall to bring into the business Kadex Ramayadi. This guy is an unassuming fellow. First impressions belie the level of knowledge this man has on anything mechanical, his riding skill and knowledge of the Indonesian Archipelago, especially his knack of finding the best places to go off-road. Adorning his parents’ motorbike mechanic workshop is a collection of trophies from winning and competing in circuit, enduro, motocross, rally and safari events throughout Asia. He is also one of only two Indonesian authorised BMW Corporate approved Trainers in providing coaching of riding techniques on the big BMW adventure bikes. Kadex predominantly takes the role of Tour Leader and whenever he does, be assured of a wonderful ride.
Anton, began travelling to Indonesia for the surf too many years ago and made the move over six years ago to live in Bali. This guy is an encyclopedia when it comes to motorbikes, as his other business based in Noosa finds and restores all sorts of motorbikes and modifies to clients needs. He has travelled extensively throughout Indonesia but also Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Borneo and other Asian countries on the search for the perfect ride or depending on his mood; wave. As an accomplished motocross/enduro rider, blended with his mechanical knowledge and laconic approach to world travel all yield to make rides with Anton and eye opening and enjoyable experience. What it’s all about really?
David has a great demeanor and desire to teach and enjoys riding with Clients of any skill level. Combined with an abundance of contagious enthusiasm and a love of Indonesia and the mountains, he leaves an indelible impression on everyone he meets.
As an expat from Spain and having lived in Bali and worked as Tour Guide on hiking tours, he wants nothing more than to show Clients the best places and have the most fun whilst getting there. Competing in FIM Trials events in Spain, he cant help but want to turn Adventure bikes into rock hopping Trials bikes so if given the opportunity he may surprise many about what is possible on two wheels.
Born and bred in Bali, Jumbo started collecting and modifying bikes from a tender age. This guy can ride pretty much anything on two wheels and is ever reliable to fix your bike or solve a problem if one arises. He loves to travel and is called upon as our Indo expert for longer tours.
Growing up on a farm in the Western district of Victoria, Darren learnt to ride motorbikes not long after he got off training wheels on his dragster push bike (yes, hes old!). He has travelled throughout Australia on his trusty KLR 650 and countless bikes of makes, engine size and reliability throughout Indonesia. He now pilots the company’s selection of bikes in between tours, to develop and further improve the quality and experience for riders who choose to ride with us. Its a tough job but someone has to do it.
Darren often takes the "Tail End Charlie" role for tours and is the go to for anything required or desired on a ride. Its also likely that Darren will be the initial point of contact for any enquiries about rides/events.
Moto Explore Indonesia has partnered with a number of motorcycle dealerships throughout Indonesia to bring Clients a depth of selection of current and late model Adventure motorbikes and travel options.
This allows riders who are already familiar with a certain make and model to book expeditions with us and travel on something they are already experienced with.
Alternatively it also provides the perfect opportunity to test ride a new bike on a multiple day ride prior to deciding if it is the right bike to buy once back at home.
